About the Artist
I was born in 1977, in a little cottage on the outskirts of small village called Llanboidy in South Wales. The delivery was unusual, in that the doctor was slightly worse for wear following a fun evening out with his friends. My parents had no mains electricity, so I was born to the sound of a generator thumping in the background, hindering the merry old doctor’s efforts to check my heartbeat with his stethoscope. Add to this the fact that I had decided to emerge into this world facing the wrong way… my parents should have known I would not be a ‘normal’ child!
This topsy-turvy beginning to my life was, it seems, to set the tone for the path I would take. It has moulded me, and how I view the world. The kaleidoscope of life can be twisted to give an alternate perspective on any theme, and this is often reflected in my work.
Never one to just ‘fit in’ and follow the well-trodden path, my artwork often looks for the subtle humour in situations, and approaches them with a fresh point of view.
I now live in the beautiful, mystical hills of Ceredigion, and find my surroundings a constant inspiration. All around my home, the area is steeped in mythology, and is thought to be a gateway to another realm. Whether that is a fact or myth, I have found that having these hills as my back garden absolutely breath-taking. My environment cleanses my soul, and helps me to approach each new project with a fresh, new and inspired energy.
